The Guardian of 1854 warns against cholera quackery, but says not a word about John Snow, still being roundly ignored in 1854 despite discovering that cholera travels in water, not bad air. Nor is there a mention of salt and sugar - oral rehydration therapy/salts - though its importance in replacing lost liquids and salts had been discovered in the 1830s.
