A story in the New York Times about the awful cost of e-coli and about a fatal relationship between food and faeces in the “beef” industry. Beefburgers, people are still apparently astonished to learn, are rarely made from a whole cut of meat, but from trimmings, including trimmings that come into contact with shit. And e-coli loves shit.
