Fascinating report from the National Grid (not least because who knew that the National Grid did reports?) on how biogas from sewage sludge could supply 50% of the UK’s domestic gas needs. Most interestingly, the report concludes that the hurdles are not infrastructural and that as there’s already gas infrastructure, it could be easily adapted. Financially, biogas compares favourably to other renewables such as wind power. But once again, it’s about software not hardware: the National Grid wants government regulation and behaviour change. The press release has a link to the full report.
