Rencontres

After a day reading documents on my computer and feeling eye-fatigued to the power of three million, I went and sat outside on my bench and drank a beer. First, neighbour Mimi came past and we conversed. She said she was going to shut up her chickens.

OK.

Then the professor of Occitan with his little black dog came past. He saw my beer and said, “Do you know why women drink beer?”

No.

“It helps bring on breastmilk.”

Oh.

I said, “Thank you. That's a useful piece of information.” Then I went back to watching the swallows.

Now though, on to Mirepoix to watch some people dressed medievally carry torches through the town.

It ain't Tooting, but 11230 has its excitements.
